What order should I do Skyrim quests in?
I’ve been digging for a while and based on what I’ve found on other forums, the best order seems to be as follows:
- The Companions, Thieves Guild, Daedric, College of Winterhold – in any order,
- the last miscallenous objective in the base game,
- Dark Brotherhood.
- Main Storyline.
- Civil War.
- Dawnguard DLC.
- Dragonborn DLC.
What Questline should I do first in Skyrim?
Innocence Lost. Innocence Lost is the initial quest for the Dark Brotherhood questline, considered by many to be the best faction-based questline in Skyrim (aside from the Civil War arc).
Should I do Dragonborn or main quest first?
Enemies will be more powerful but the Dragonborn will be just as powerful by then. I recommend you to do Dragonborn last if this is your first playthrough. When you will be done with the mainquest and Dawnguard, you will find the Solstheim and the DB questline as a breath of fresh air.
Can you do Civil war after main quest Skyrim?
Yes. I’ve done this succesfully. The main questline was one of the first questlines that I finished (mainly to get the Dragon Shouts exclusive to it), and the Civil War questline (the Imperial Legion path) was one of the last questlines I finished (because I can’t decide who to support, initially).
Should I do the Dark Brotherhood or Thieves Guild first?
If lurking in the shadows and waiting for the best time to eliminate a target in whatever method that comes to mind sounds fun, the Dark Brotherhood is the guild to seek out first, especially if those rewards sound better. Ultimately, the best guild to join in Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is up to the player themselves.
Should I finish Civil War before main quest?
This quest is known to occasionally break things such as questlines, jarls, guards and even just the war itself. If you have started both the Civil War and the Main Quest, you should finish the Civil War before the peace council quest.
Should I do main quest before Dawnguard?
Re: Which first: Main Quest or Dawnguard? It shouldn’t really matter, regardless of which faction you choose in Dawnguard. (The two questlines meet at certain points, and those points are when you can mention being Dragonborn.) The most you get from are lines of dialogue where your character answers a question or two.
At what level should I start Dawnguard?
Dawnguard has a minimum level requirement of 10. I’d recommend waiting until 15-20 though since some of the quests are long and tough (lots of trekking through falmer infested territory). Hearthfire can be started at any time as its simply a material collection quest to build a house.
Is it better to be a Stormcloak or Imperial?
Pick Imperial if you want to play a character who is originally from a place aside from Skyrim, as it doesn’t make sense to fight under a banner that ultimately won’t accept you. Pick Stormcloak if you believe the Empire has no right to say what Skyrim denizens can and can’t do, especially if you are a Nord.

What order should I join guilds in Skyrim?
With that in mind, this updated ranking of Skyrim’s guilds includes steps on how to join each one.
- 1 The Dark Brotherhood.
- 2 The Thieves’ Guild.
- 3 The Dawnguard.
- 4 The College of Winterhold.
- 5 The Volkihar Clan.
- 6 The Companions.
- 7 The Imperial Legion.
- 8 The Stormcloaks.
At what level should I start Dragonborn?
Dragonborn requires you to have started the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller quest. This is a tough DLC and having good gear matters more than levels, I wouldn’t recommend anything below 30.
What level is recommended for Dragonborn?
Dawnguard was intended to to be an early game DLC and Dragonborn a later game DLC. Personally, I would recommend Dawnguard from levels 7-20 and Dragonborn levels 25-40.
