Should I join PPL and PRS?
PPL sometimes get confused with PRS for Music who collect royalties on behalf of songwriters, publishers and composers. We’re actually two separate companies and revenue streams for musicians so if you perform on and compose your own recordings then you can (and should!) register with both PPL and PRS for Music.
How are PPL royalties split?
In most instances, the total royalty amount for a single recording is divided between the recording rightsholders and the qualifying performers. This is done in accordance with PPL’s Distribution Rules, and the split is typically 50-50.
How long does it take to switch direct deposit accounts?
The process required to change direct deposit can be cumbersome. They would need to contact your HR department and fill out a form with the credentials of their new institution, authorizing the new bank to receive the direct deposit. This process can take two-to-four weeks, or one-to-two pay cycles.
