What is acid-free tissue paper?
‘Acid free’ means that the paper’s pH is 7.0 or higher, which makes it alkaline. This kind of paper has less chemical agents involved in the manufacturing process, which makes it a more environmentally friendly option.
What is the difference between buffered and unbuffered archival paper?
For example, if a material is meant to have a slightly acidic composition, it should not be stored with buffered tissue as the neutralization of the material may be detrimental over time. Unbuffered Tissue is pH neutral, and is preferred when storing materials that by nature have a more acidic composition.
Is most tissue paper acid-free?
Mostly MF tissue is specified as acid free and bleed resistant. It is glazed and finished on both sides. On the other hand, there is a noticeable difference in the finish on the two sides of machine finished tissue paper which is usually uncoated.
