Is ButcherBox frozen?
ButcherBox meat is delivered to your front door frozen and vacuumed packed. The first ButcherBox delivery comes with a nice black freezer bag and dry ice to ensure your package arrives to your door frozen. All boxes after that won’t have the black bag but will still be shipped with dry ice.
Is ButcherBox USDA approved?
Their facilities are routinely inspected and approved by the USDA or a comparable agency. Currently, we source the majority of our beef from Australia.

We source the majority of our beef from Australia, where they’ve built an entire system on certifying pasture-raised meat. Australia has very high animal welfare standards as well as the climate and pastureland to allow cattle to spend their entire lives grazing.

We guarantee that ButcherBox Beef is 100% grass-fed and grass-finished. That means our cattle are free to range on grassy pastures throughout their entire lives, suckling from their mothers for the first 6 to 9 months, then eating their natural diet of grass.
How long will ButcherBox last outside?
6-8 hours
Though you don’t need to be home for delivery, all orders should be retrieved ASAP. Packages should not remain outside longer than 6-8 hours after delivery. When retrieved within that time window, your food should arrive refrigerator cold—below 40°F as measured with a food thermometer.

It is perfectly safe to refreeze food that has been thawed in the refrigerator, WITHOUT cooking it first. If food is partly frozen, as cold as if it were in a refrigerator (40 °F), and still has ice crystals, it is safe to refreeze or use!
How long does vacuum sealed meat last in fridge?
Raw Meats – Raw meats can be kept up to 10 day when vacuum packed before needing to be cooked or frozen. In comparison, raw meat that is not vacuum packed will only last 3-5 days in the refrigerator before turning.
How long is ButcherBox meat good for?
Due to ButcherBox’s vacuum-seal packaging, our chicken can last between 3 to 5 days in the refrigerator. (If the vacuum seal is broken, stick to the standard 1-2 day recommendation for poultry.)
