ATF works great as a fork oil. It is relatively light weight, 2-5 W and rather unpredictable. If you need to use more than 1 bottle it might be a good idea to premix the stuff to isolate any bottle to bottle differences. I’ve also heard that Dextron fluid has lubricating properties that the other stuff may not have.
Can I use motor oil in my forks?
Check the manual for your forks though. Yer 130ml of 5wt in dampers and a 20/30ml of 15wt every where else. If you want to ruin the performance of your damper, by all means use motor oil in there. Use shock oil for anything that is damping, and motor oil for the splash oil in the lowers.
