How do I get a coaching license in South Africa?
SAFA has currently a Coaching Education System in place with 5 different levels:
- SAFA D License (Grassroots) -5 days.
- CAF/SAFA C License (Introductory) -10 days.
- CAF/SAFA B License (Level 1)-20 days.
- CAF/SAFA A License (Level 2) -; 30 days.
- Professional License (Level 3) – 70 days.
What can you do with a UEFA A Licence?
The UEFA A Licence is one level below the UEFA Pro Licence and allows holders to be head coaches of youth teams up to age 18, reserve teams (also known as ‘B’ teams) for top-flight clubs, and men’s professional second-tier clubs.

What is a coaching qualification?
The Certificate of Performance is a two-day basic introduction to business coaching in the workplace. The Certificate of Professional Development combines academic rigour and practical experience designed to enable participants to become competent in the art of coaching.
How long does it take to get a UEFA B Licence?
The UEFA B Diploma requires a total minimum 120 hours of education. A minimum 95 hours will be spent studying guided interactive content, with a minimum 25 hours made up of work experience in a club environment. The course is delivered approximately 50/50 between on- and off-pitch activity.
Do you need a UEFA coaching license?
The UEFA Goalkeeper A Diploma prepares a coach for coaching goalkeepers of all ages in professional football. Candidates must hold a valid UEFA B licence and, if applicable in the hosting nation, a valid UEFA Goalkeeper B licence.
Do you need a qualification to be a coach?
Firstly, you don’t need to take a coaching course before you can “officially” call yourself a coach. A coach refers to anyone who’s teaching someone something. As long as there’s something that you have an expertise in, something that you can teach others, then you can already be a coach.
Does UEFA B license expire?
This qualification expires every three years. If yours is more than or nearing the three-year limit, you can renew it by completing our online re-certification course here. You can find your qualification expiry date on your My Training account or the qualifications section on the back of your 2018/19 licence card.
How many hours do you need to be ICF certified?
ICF Member Eligibility Requirements. To be a member of the International Coaching Federation you must meet at least one of the following requirements: Hold a current ICF Credential (ACC, PCC, or MCC); Have completed at least 60 hours of coach-specific training that meets ICF standards.
