According to Nest’s security camera company, upcoming software improvements won’t work on the older hardware. As a result, Dropcam has decided to stop supporting all original Dropcam and Dropcam Echo models come April 15.

I liked that the Dropcam HD has two-way audio, so you can both hear and be heard through the camera.

When the microphone is on, your Nest camera’s microphone picks up sound in the area around your camera. If your camera has event video history or 24/7 video history, your camera’s audio is recorded in your video history as long as the microphone is on.

Are baby monitors necessary?
If your baby sleeps in the same room as you for a few months, you probably don’t need a monitor for a while, if ever. If their crib is beside you then you can be assured you’ll hear their every move and whimper. However, If you have a two story home and plan on allowing the baby napping upstairs… it will come in handy.
Is Google Nest spying on you?
The good news is that Google has said it won’t share personally identifiable information (such as names or email addresses). Still, the company won’t tell users anything more about how it plans to use the data. If you want an explanation of how Google is using your information, you’ll have to ask for it.
