Is Magura MT5 good?
Super powerful and reasonably priced, the Magura MT5 hydraulic disc brakes have blown us away in terms of sheer braking prowess. As long as you don’t mind the ‘functional’ look and the large lever blade, these are a solid performer suitable for any trail or enduro mountain bike.

Can you mix Magura and Shimano mineral oil?
Magura blood, Shimano brake fluid or LHM automotive fluids are all the same but their color. You can use any of them, even mix them together to make the color that you prefer.
How do you sleep in Magura brakes?
New brake pads and rotors only attain their final braking force during the bedding-in phase. To achieve this ride on even ground and accelerate to a speed of 30 km/h before braking to a standstill. Repeat this process at least 30 times per brake. The brake pads and rotor are now bedded-in and can perform optimally.
Can I use regular mineral oil Magura?
Well the mineral oil from the pharmacy works fine. Actually I can’t really tell the difference in braking quality from regular mineral oil compared to Magura blood. However, Regualr Mineral Oil is much thicker than Magura Blood and the air bubbles move through the lines very slowly.
Can I use normal mineral oil in Magura brakes?
Mixing oils of the same type is OK. Those mineral brake fluids are the same type, classed as LHM and they are the same density. You could even mix a different density of the same type, LHS or RR brake fluids for an example, since they are mineral oils as well.

Registered. I switch wheels between magura rotors and shimano rotors and it works fine. I prefer the magura rotors though as that extra thickness is reassuring. You do have to pump the brakes up once or twic at most to get them to settled.
