What bedding do you use for a bassinet?

As with your bedding, choose items made from cotton, merino or bamboo. We do not recommend dressing your baby in fleece or polyester, and definitely do not use synthetic clothing when your baby is sleeping, as they are more likely to overheat. Use light layers of clothing rather than thick garments.

The moses basket fitted sheets are the same as for the carrycot in the pram so worth having x4. Cellular blankets for moses basket / carrycot are also same size so again x4 (they are only little). You might want to consider flat sheets for the moses basket too to go under the blanket.

How many layers does a newborn need at night?

Do not use pillows and duvets – they’re not safe for babies less than a year old because of the risk of suffocation. Duvets can also make your baby too hot. Sheets and layers of blankets tucked in firmly below your baby’s shoulder level or a baby sleeping bag are safe for your baby to sleep in.

Do bassinets need a mattress pad?

What bedding goes in a Moses basket?

Bottom sheet, cellular blanket (2 layers if cold), top sheet. Best Moses basket tip I ever had was not to buy special small sheets but to use pillow cases as sheets. They just slip over the mattress. Babies need to be a certain weight before they can go in a sleeping bag, cellular blankets are great.

Do you need a sheet for a pram bassinet?

Well, there are no rules about needing a sheet for a pram. No one is going to chase you down if you don’t, but yes, ideally, you do want one if you have a carrycot part for your pram for your baby to lie in.

Do you put a sheet on a pram mattress?

You can use any sheet you like that fits. A flat sheet is just as good, or a pillowcase if the mattress size is near enough. Lay another sheet or folded muslin across the mattress where baby’s head lies and when they sick up (and they will) you can just whip it out and replace with fresh.

How many sheets and blankets should a baby have?

At the end of the day, there’s no right or wrong number when it comes to the number of crib sheets that you should need. If you’re a parent that does laundry often, four to five sheets are more than sufficient. However, there is no harm in having a few additional sheets on hand.
